Environmental Policy
Maelor Forest Nursery Ltd is a bare root forest nursery providing around 16 million bare root forest trees to the market each year, both in the UK and abroad.
Maelor Forest Nursery Ltd is committed to achieving continual improvement in environmental performance and becoming a leader in environmental management within the industry, we are keen for this to reflect in our products and continue to provide trees grown in a sustainable manner for many years to come. Environmental considerations are incorporated in all business activities, by conserving natural resources and by controlling significant environmental impacts associated with our operations.
To support our policy aims Maelor Forest Nursery Ltd will:
- Inform and train employees to take account of environmental issues in all aspects of their work.
- Comply with and where possible exceed all relevant environmental legislation and other requirements to which the organisation subscribes.
- Ensure that our activities on the land do not have a negative impact on future production capabilities and thus ensuring a sustainable future for the business.
- Prevent pollution through the setting of objectives and targets that focus on land management, waste, energy consumption, material use and transport.
- Where appropriate reduce, reuse and recycle waste generated as a result of our activities.
- Reduce energy use by monitoring consumption, raising awareness and setting energy efficiency objectives in our Environmental Improvement Plan.

Green Dragon Environmental Standard
Maelor Forest Nurseries Ltd has been successful in achieving level 2 of the Green Dragon Environmental Standard.
The standard is run by Groundwork Wales and offers an environmental management system relevant to the specific needs of the company and strives to achieve continual environmental improvements. The standard is part of the work Maelor is currently carrying out to ensure we meet the objectives set by our environmental policy.
