Maelor Forest Nurseries, part of the BSW Group, will reveal its exclusive first-time virtual tour in a free online webinar on Tuesday, 6th September at 10am. This should be of particular interest to foresters, landowners, estate managers, charities and tree planting professionals looking at using Maelor Forest Nurseries to supply their quality, UK-grown planting stock, but everyone is welcome to join.

Viewers will be guided through the work in the lab by Maelor’s Science Research & Development Manager, Dr Shelagh McCartan to learn about the work Maelor are carrying out on the breeding of improved Sitka, Somatic Embryogenesis and more.

Ben Goh, Maelor Forest Nurseries Commercial Manager will take the audience on a tour of the nursery and present updates from the site based in Forres in the Scottish Highlands.

Finally, Mark O’Neill, Nursery Director will take webinar attendees to have a first look at the £4 million miniplug facility, the largest to be built for producing commercial trees. It is designed to secure a continuous and plentiful supply of home-grown tree stocks whilst improving their quality and resilience to the effects of climate change.

Ben Goh, Commercial Manager said: “In a time where the Government has committed to increasing tree-planting rates across the UK to 30,000 hectares, securing stock supply has never been so important. This tour will unveil how Maelor Forest Nurseries is further rising to the challenge of planting trees on a large scale.”

Delegates will also get a chance to speak to the team to ask their questions.
